McDonald’s Linked to E.coli Outbreak Across 10 States

McDonald’s is facing scrutiny after being connected to an E.coli outbreak that has sickened 49 people and claimed one life. Many of the affected individuals reported eating at McDonald’s, with several mentioning Quarter Pounder burgers. The outbreak has spread across 10 states: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

While the exact cause hasn’t been confirmed, investigators suspect that slivered onions may be the culprit. In response, McDonald’s has paused the use of onions in the affected areas, and some locations have temporarily removed the Quarter Pounder from their menu.

McDonald’s issued a statement, ensuring that they are taking steps to protect their customers and maintain food safety standards.

E.Coli Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Diarrhea lasting more than 3 days and fever above 102°F
  • Vomiting that prevents keeping liquids down
  • Signs of dehydration (dry mouth, less urination, dizziness)

If you experience any of these symptoms after eating at McDonald’s, contact a doctor. Symptoms typically appear 3-4 days after exposure and may resolve within a week without medical intervention.
