Family Dollar Closing Nearly 1,000 Stores

Family Dollar, the place for affordable must-haves, is making some major moves. Almost 1000 Family Dollar stores will be closing over the next few years, and 600 stores are set to shut down in 2024 alone.
Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar, hasn’t spilled the beans on which stores and states will feel the heat from this move, but it’s clear that some of them will be turning into Dollar Tree outlets. The reasons for the performance dip are all up in the air: maybe it’s because SNAP benefits are shrinking across the country, unexpected expenses from recalls of over-the-counter meds and medical devices in almost two dozen states last autumn, poor store management, or simply because we’re grappling with the highest inflation in decades.
