$25 Payout Possible from Walmart – No Proof Needed

Walmart customers who bought certain meat, poultry, pork, and seafood sold by weight (known as “Weighted Goods”) and certain organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags (known as “Bagged Citrus”) might be able to make a claim in a group lawsuit against the store. A Settlement was recently reached against Walmart, alleging customers who purchased these items in-store paid more than the lowest in-store advertised price.

$45 Million Walmart Weighted Groceries Class Action Settlement

Who qualifies? Persons who purchased weighted goods like beef, chicken, ham, pork, turkey, veal, and seafood and/or bagged (mesh or plastic bags) citrus: navel oranges (3lb/5lb); organic oranges (3lb); organic grapefruit (4lb); and tangerines (2lb) at Walmart in the U.S. or Puerto Rico from Oct. 19, 2018 through Jan. 19, 2024.

Upon the court’s final approval of the settlement, claimants can receive up to $500 with proof of purchase.

Proof needed? No. Without proof, you can get $10 (if you claim you bought 50 Weighted Goods and/or Bagged Citrus in person during the settlement period) up to $25 (if you claim you bought over 101 Weighted Goods and/or Bagged Citrus in person during the settlement period). With proof, you will receive 2% of the total cost (up to $500) of the verified amount of Weighted Goods and/or Bagged Citrus you purchased.

Here’s the payout information, based on the number of qualifying products purchased:

• Up to 50 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $10
• From 51 to 75 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $15
• From 76 to 100 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $20
• 101 or more qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $25.
• If you have receipts or other proof of purchase for any number of qualifying products, you can claim 2% of the total amount spent, up to a maximum of $500.
